Il lui manquait que quelques mois pour fêter ses 19 ans, cela fait de lui, tout de même, le plus vieux rhum Bally brut de fût jamais embouteillé. C'est grâce au travail du maitre de chais et oenologue Marc Sassier et la cave batticienne Corman Collins que ce merveilleux rhum a pu être libéré de son fût. Donnant naissance à 402 bouteilles, embouteillées à Sainte-Marie à la Martinique.

Distillé en 2000, mis en vieillissement le 17 novembre 2000, un fût ex-bourbon, sera dépoté le 22 novembre 2021.
Robe d’or séduisante. Nez très concentré et classieux : les notes empyreumatiques caressées d’une touche de vanille s’imbriquent savamment avec les épices et du fruité mature opulent en une élégante symphonie. Bouche jouissive où la concentration pénétrante des mêmes arômes explose en feu d’artifice de saveurs homogènes au final chaleureux et interminable.

Il s’agit de ce fût unique, réel coup de cœur pour l’équipe de passionnés que nous sommes au sein d’Excellence Rhum. Nous l’avons dégusté et sélectionné par nos soins dans les chais du château de Bonbonnet début d'année 2020. Ainsi, chaque Plantation Single Cask présente un vieillissement unique, et chaque bouteille est numérotée. Seulement quelques fûts de ces rhums sont embouteillés chaque année, faisant de ces expressions de véritables pièces de collection. Edition limitée à 144 bouteilles dont 42 bouteilles numérotées pour Excellence Rhum. Le mark MBK correspond à un taux de congeners (esters) de 60 à 90 gr/hlaap (hectolitre d'alcool pur) au moment de la distillation. Au moment de son embouteillage le taux d'esters a grimpé (grâce au vieillissement tropical) pour atteindre 256 gr/hlaap et 1251 gr/hlaap de composés volatiles (TNA).

THE BRAND

Hampden Estate is one of the oldest sugar plantations in Jamaica. Founded in the half of the 18th century, the estate passed under the ownership of the Scottish Archibald Sterling in 1753, who built a couple of years later the Great House of Hampden. In the second half of '800, the property passes into the hands of Kelly-Lawson, Justice of the Peace in Trelawny; later on his daughter Ena married, Mr Farquharson, who inherited the estate upon his death. The Farquharson family produced rum until 2003, when the estate, due to financial troubles, became property of the Government controlled Jamaica Sugar Company.

 

In 2009 the Everglades Farms Ltd. owned by the Hussely family acquired the Hampden estate, with the aim of preserving the great tradition of rum distillation and the values of the founding family. Today, after 265 years of production dedicated to confidential trade bottling, Hampden has decided to launch in 2018 its own aged rums on the international scene signing a distribution agreement with Velier.

 

THE BOTTLER

Silver Seal was founded by Ernesto Rino Mainardi in 2000, also owner of Sestante, well-known Italian indie bottler, who bottled his first whisky in 1985 and many others become legendary over the years. Max Righi, owner of whisky antique and one of the leading italian experts in the industry, bought both companies in 2010 and since then, also many outstanding rums were bottled.
